The Division of Energy (DED-DE) assists, educates, and encourages Missourians to advance the efficient use of diverse energy resources to drive economic growth, provide for a healthier environment, and achieve greater energy security for future generations. DED-DE assists in providing technical and financial assistance for energy efficiency and renewable energy development for state and local governments, school districts, and community projects. DED-DE also offers technical support for residential weatherization, strengthening communities' critical infrastructure, and enhancing energy efficiency and renewable options to assist businesses in being more competitive.
The Division of Workforce Development supports economic growth for individuals and businesses through innovative workforce programs and services. The Division provides information, support services and training in in-demand industries and occupations and strives to enhance Missouri's economy by helping job seekers find gainful employment with family sustaining wages, and providing businesses with a skilled, trained workforce to successfully compete in the global economy. Services are provided through a collaborative workforce system that includes multiple State Agencies, over 30 Missouri Job Centers, 14 local Workforce Development Boards, 12 community colleges and other local educational agencies throughout the state.
The mission of the Missouri Safety Center is to promote safety in Missouri and the Nation. The Missouri Safety Center, through its collaborations, strives to prevent injury and death through technology transfer, instruction, research, and public service. In collaboration with the Institute for Rural Emergency Management (IREM) and the Crisis and Disaster Management Program at the University of Central Missouri, the Missouri Safety Center coordinates training, technical assistance, outreach, and research in a number of areas related to rural communities, including traffic and transportation safety, public safety for first responders, and crisis and disaster management. UCM is the only university in the U.S. to create a community outreach center (IREM) focused on the emergency management needs of rural America.
Mo-Kan Regional Council (Mo-Kan) is a designated regional planning commission and economic development district, recognized by the states of Kansas and Missouri and the federal government. Mo-Kan provides community and economic development services to 31 municipalities across five counties in northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas. Services include long-range community planning; grant procurement and administration; infrastructure; community development; community services; workforce development;, business development; governance and homeland security. Mo-Kan currently serves the county and municipal governments in Andrew, Buchanan, Clinton and DeKalb counties in Missouri; and Doniphan county in Kansas.
The loan programs offered by Mo-Kan are designed to be an affordable means by which businesses can access much-needed capital. Mo-Kan partners the Small Business Administration (SBA) and a local lender to provide "gap financing" for owner-occupied businesses across the state of Missouri and Kansas.

Southeast Missouri State University provides student-centered education and experiential learning with a foundation of liberal arts and sciences, embracing a tradition of access, exceptional teaching, and commitment to student success that significantly contributes to the development of the region and beyond. Additionally, the Southeast Economic and Business Engagement Center assists in meeting the needs of businesses, workers and communities through development of ongoing strategies and activities to promote long-term economic stability and growth. It is our mission to provide southeast Missouri business and industry with the tools and resources they need to be successful.
