The Division of Business & Community Services supports the mission of the Missouri Department of Economic Development by creating an environment that encourages economic growth by supporting new and existing businesses and by serving as a partner with local governments, non-profits, community organizations and private citizens to help develop and grow Missouri's communities.
The Division of Workforce Development supports economic growth for individuals and businesses through innovative workforce programs and services. The Division provides information, support services and training in in-demand industries and occupations and strives to enhance Missouri's economy by helping job seekers find gainful employment with family sustaining wages, and providing businesses with a skilled, trained workforce to successfully compete in the global economy. Services are provided through a collaborative workforce system that includes multiple State Agencies, over 30 Missouri Job Centers, 14 local Workforce Development Boards, 12 community colleges and other local educational agencies throughout the state.
Missouri Farmers Care (MFC), a coalition of 46 leading Missouri agriculture groups, stands together for the men and women who provide the food and jobs on which our communities depend. MFC’s Agri-Ready County Designation is a useful tool in a county’s toolkit by providing resources to communities to spur economic development, build agricultural literacy and encourage production stewardship. The Designation, offered at no cost, partners counties with Missouri agriculture and local leaders to protect and promote agriculture and secure it as a thriving component in our economic future.
MFC’s Agriculture Education on the Move (AEOTM) invests in youth and educators. This ten-week educational effort engages third-grade students, teachers and counselors through STEM activities, career exploration, and agricultural literacy. AEOTM is offered at no cost in Missouri cities and Agri-Ready Designated counties. Through Agri-Ready and AEOTM Missouri Farmers Care promotes the continued growth of Missouri agriculture and rural communities.
